School Assembly
Fran’s school has an assembly every Friday morning. The whole school (about 300) gathers in the assembly room. They sing the national anthem, the school song (see video and below for lyrics), give announcements, and teachers recognize students. The year 6 students lead the assemblies.
Today Fran got to be one of the MCs. She also announced to the school a jump rope competition that she organized. The school is really great at allowing students to be leaders.
School Song in Te reo Māori:
He whetū korako
He whetū maha ngā momo
He rerekē he pokake kua kotahi te ora
He whetū korako
Aroha
Māna tangata
Hohourongo, Aorakitanga
Whākau e!
He whetū korako
He whetū maha ngā momo
He rerekē he pokake kua kotahi te ora
He whetū korako
Aroha (Aroha tetahi ki tetahi)
Māna tangata (Kia tika, kia ū te mana tupuna)
Hohourongo (Whakamanahia te tangata)
Aorakitanga, Whakaū e! (Mana ora Mouriora, Ko ahau ko koe, ko koe ko au)
I te pōuri he nui te tiahotanga
I te mamae he nui te tiahotanga
Ko te kotahitanga te mokemoke
Ma ia he taonga te koha mai
Aroha (Aroha tetahi ki tetahi)
Māna tangata (Kia tika, kia ū te mana tupuna)
Hohourongo (Whakamanahia te tangata)
Aorakitanga, Whakaū e! (Mana ora Mouriora, Ko ahau ko koe, ko koe ko au)
Aroha
Māna tangata
Hohourongo, Aorakitanga
Whākau e!
He whetū
