Upper Navua River

We were able to raft the gorgeous Upper Navua River. Here the river has carved narrow canyons from the volcanic rock. Waterfalls are around every corner. And it is so green and lush. The river rafting company is locally operated by people in the small highlands village and has been running for 25+ years. Many of our guides have been there since the beginning. Years ago they worked with tribal and government leaders to turn the river into a conservation area, protecting this natural beauty from logging, mining and roads and preserving the ecosystem for the small villages along the river.
