Nine Arch Bridge

One of the lasting benefits from the colonial period is the trains system. We visited the iconic nine arch bridge. This bridge is an engineering marvel. The construction faced significant logistical challenges, including difficult terrain and material transport. It took 8 years to build and was complete in 1929. Today, the trains were not running in this area due to filming of an Indian movie. The filming is taking place for six days. We were going to ride an earlier segment of the train, but due to the spontaneity of this trip would only be able to get standing tickets. We weren’t very excited about standing in a crowded and cramped train for hours, despite the beautiful scenery and appeal of train travel.
