Manigala Ridge

Today we did the approximately 8km round trip hike to Maningala Ridge. Don’t let the distance fool you, like it did us, we were sweating buckets in the humidity and ~500m elevation gain. We were told we would have a tracker with us, I was expecting a Garmin Spot, or something similar. It turns out to be a local villager in flip flops, a plastic grocery sack with a water bottle, that doesn’t talk much. It was a terrific hike that started by going past the rice paddy’s and agricultural fields to a gorgeous overlook of the Knuckles Mountains. Fran’s highlight of the hike was the 20+ village dogs that took turns escorting us along the trail. A low light was the leeches we acquired along the way.
