Pidurangala Rock

To begin our awesome day, we hiked to Pidurangala Rock. It is a huge volcanic rock formation just north of the iconic UNESCO Lion’s Rock. At the base is an ancient Buddhist temple. The views on top were amazing and we saw Gray Langur monkeys up close! A momma and two babies. On the drive, we saw a bunch of toque macaque and a land monitor. If walking through Rome was like walking through a museum, walking through Sri Lanka is like walking through a zoo! We recorded 37 different species of animals today, and I know we missed a bunch. This place is amazing!
